Frequently Asked Questions

How is my water usage determined?

The city does not normally need to enter your home to determine usage. The city obtains water usage information wirelessly from your water meter at the end of every month.

How could I have used this much water?

You could possibly have a leaky pipe, water heater, toilet or faucet that's difficult to detect. Carefully inspect these areas, looking for drips or puddles. You can check for toilet leaks using food coloring in the tank and see if it comes through to the bowl without flushing. If you see nothing, call the city office and we'll work with you to attempt to identify the problem, you may need to hire a plumber.

What do I do if I am experiencing low pressure?

Check your meter and the surrounding area for possible leaks. Next, check any water filters you may have in your home, they may need to be cleaned or replaced. If none of these identify the problem call the city office and report low pressure for your area.

What are my options for payment of my utility bill?

The City of Lamberton accepts payment by cash/check, automatic withdrawal, and credit/debit card (Fee may apply).

Why do i have a previous balance when I know I sent in my payment?

We may have received it after the due date or we may not have received it at all. Call the city office and we will help you identify the problem.

I’m replacing my water line or building a new home, where/how should my new water meter be installed?

There are guidelines for installation of water meters which you can download here

How to I read my water meter?

To read your water meter you’ll need to be at your water meter and have a flashlight. Follow the instructions outlined in the "Reading Your Water Meter" document.

Where can I find my water meter?

Generally meters are located in the basement towards the front of the building. Following your water pipes (if visible) will lead you to your meter. Water meters can be in utility rooms, under stairs, in hidden compartments or out in the open. If you cannot find your meter, call the city office and we'll work with you to locate it.
